Reforestation Efforts

Tree Planting Worldwide Tree planting activities are conducted regularly in Kenya with the support of the community and Del Monte employees. Since the beginning of the program in 2001, close to 200,000 seedlings have been planted and approximately 90 hectares have been reforested by Del Monte.

Reforestation programs in Cameroon include tree planting and landscaping within the project area. We provide annual support to the Ministry of Environment for environmental initiatives.

In Costa Rica, tree planting activities are regularly conducted, and in 2008 13,000 seedlings were planted. We have launched the "PADRINOS Y MADRINAS POR LA SIEMBRA" where schoolchildren and their families adopt and plant a tree. In addition, tree seedlings are donated to the community to encourage them to plant in their own areas. About 63,000 seedlings have been donated.

In areas surrounding the banana, pineapple and melon farms in Brazil, Del Monte has reforested close to 100 hectares.

Tree planting programs in the Philippines are conducted with the participation and support of local schools and government organizations.
