Melons

The Melons category is one of the highest volume producing fresh produce categories with a variety of items such as cantaloupe, honeydew and watermelon.  Melons are considered the ideal healthy food; they are low in calories and fat and are packed with vitamins (A,B6,C). The also are great sources for fiber and potassium. Del Monte Fresh Produce not only sells these varieties but also specialty melons, which were introduced to meet the different tastes and expectations of our customers. We are significant producers and distributors of melons in the North American and European market. 

Melons are grown in temperate and tropical locations and have a relatively short growing cycle. We are able to provide our customers with a year-round supply of melons from diverse sources. For example, we supply the North American market during its spring, summer and fall seasons with melons from Arizona, California and the East Coast of the United States.  Our European market is supplied during the  summer season with melons from Spain and in the fall and spring months melons are sourced from company-controlled farms in Central and South America.
