Del Monte only picks fruit once it has reached the moment of perfect ripeness. The fruit is then packed within hours with the utmost care to prevent damage to ensure that each and every can of Del Monte fruit contains the freshest, tastiest, juiciest fruit - delivering a taste of sunshine in every can.

Strict quality controls are applied at every stage of the operation to ensure that the consumer can always rely on consistently high quality in every Del Monte can.

Canned Pineapple

Del Monte is most famous for its Pineapple. Pineapple expertise is at the very heart of our business and we supply over one third of the worlds canned pineapple from our own plantations.

Canned Pineapple is highly convenient, the perfect accompaniment to gammon, sweet and juicy on a pizza, or an exotic treat with ice cream. And don't forget it's healthy too!

Canned Fruit Cocktail

Fruit Cocktail consists of a mixture of peaches, pears, pineapples, grapes and cherries. Packing of Fruit Cocktail takes place when harvest times of pears, peaches and grapes overlap. The South African packing season starts in February and continues throughout March while Greek production starts in September and extends throughout October.

Canned Peaches and Apricots

Canned Peaches are also incredibly versatile and are delicious served in savoury dishes, or on your breakfast cereal to add an extra healthy touch to the start of the day.

Del Monte uses the Yellow Cling Peach variety which comes from Greece and South Africa. Peach trees have 15 to 16 year growing cycles.

Sweet and succulent, Del Monte canned apricots are delicious, nutritious and above all, convenient for today's lifestyles. Top with some natural yogurt or ice cream and sprinkle with chopped nuts for a speedy dessert the whole family will enjoy.

The processing of Apricots is the same as for peaches. Del Monte uses the Bulida variety from South Africa where the packing season ranges from November to December.

Canned Pears

Sun ripened in the fruit orchards of South Africa, Del Monte Canned Pears are a superb quality product. Always perfectly ripe, they are a convenient alternative to fresh, perfect with cream or ice cream.

Del Monte uses the Bartlett variety of pears from South Africa. These are packed from February through to March. Unlike other fruit picked for canning, pears are harvested early and are ripened under controlled conditions. This reduces bruising during pre-cannery handling and helps to ensure a smooth texture. The pears are washed, peeled and cored and graded by size as required.
